The Haymarket Square on Randolph Street between Halsted and Des Plaines Streets

In the foreground is the Police Monument by F. Gelert, commemorating the police officers killed in the Haymarket Riot on May 4, 1886. Here farm wagons, drays, peddler carts and street carts jostled another for many generations. Today there is little produce business done here.
