Beatty, Fonton M., col'd, 33 yrs., fatally shot (died soon after) Harrison St., near Clark, by Charles, Campbell, col'd, a notorious crook, who was drunk and ran against Beatty, causing Campbell's hat to fall off. He drew a revolver and ordered Beatty to pick up the hat. Beatty complied and as Campbell still pointed the revolver at him, attempted to back away when Campbell shot him in the abdomen. Cambell was arrested. Harrison St. Station.

Kratz, Henry, 43 years old, fatally cut with knife at 2504 Wentworth Av., by his brother, Martin Kratz, who was intoxicated and beating his wife, when Henry interfered to protect her and angered Martin Kratz, who was arrested. 22d St. Station.

Fitzgerald, Dennis, Officer, 11th Prect, died in Mercy Hospital from assault committed Dec. 26, 1903, at 44th St. and Indiana Av., by John Johnson and Louis Tedford, both colored, who were intoxicated and creating a disturbance and when remonstrated with by the officer assaulted him and shot him in the abdomen. They were both arrested and held by the Coroner's Jury Jan. 20, 1904. Johnson sentenced to hang and Tilford to 14 years in Pen; March 5, 1904. Johnson respited Dec. 14. Hanged in County Jail Jan. 20, 1905.

Waclawick, Mrs. Annie, 27 years old, fatally shot, home 874 W. 19th St., by Stephen Waclavick, a former boarder who attempted to force his way into the house while intoxicated. He was arrested by Lieut. Johnson, of 23d Prect. Held to Grand Jury July 6, by Coroner's Jury. Plead guilty Sept. 22, 1904. Sentenced Sept. 26, by Judge Chetlain to thirty-two years in Joliet Penitentiary.

Bevneck, Joe. 3 yrs. old. Scalded to death at 8548 Washtinaw Av. While Mike Bulava was drunk he threw a kettle of boiling water on the child causing death. Bulava was arrested. 15 prect. The coroner being dissatisfied with the verdict took the case to the Grand Jury and Bulava was indicted for manslaughter Feb. 20, 1908 - June 25/08 fined $50 for Asslt. Verdict of accidental death by Coroner's Jury.
