King, Mrs. Ellen, beaten to death with chair, home near 252 Cologne St. by her husband, Thomas King, who confessed, claiming that he came home Dec. 24 and found her intoxicated and in the quarrel insuing beat her with the chair. Deering St. Station.

Murphy, James, 28 years old, shot dead, saloon 1210 Wabash Av., by Lorezo Sodini, proprietor. Murphy refused to pay for drinks and ran out of saloon and threw stone through window. Sodini ran out and fired at him, killing him instantly. Harrison St. Station. Held by Coroner's Jury, July 29. Acquitted Dec. 9, 1899, by jury in Judge Baker's court.

Franks, Frank, 45 years old, fatally stabbed, home 6940 Lincoln St., by his wife, Mary Franks, who claimed that while drunk he assaulted her and she stabbed him in self defense. He died in Englewood Union Hosp. Oct. 9and she was arrested and held by Coroner's Jury Oct. 10. Indicted by Grand Jury, October term, 1903. Acquitted by Jury in Criminal Court (Judge Gary) Jan. 23, 1904.

Lane, John B., 40 yrs., died in County Hospital. While intoxicated in Majestic restaurant, 83 Monroe St. March 28, he became disorderly and was ejected by Henry Best and Robert Rogers, employees. Lane fell on sidewalk and received a skull fracture. Lane and Robert were arrested and held by Coroner's Jury April 14, Best for murder and Roberts as accessory.

Janetski, Stanislaus, 34 yrs., died in all, 6th Prect. Station. Was found unconscious supposed intoxicated at 39th St. and Stewart Av. An examination revealed that he had received a severe scalp wound, and upon investigation it was discovered that he had been ejected from the saloon of Michael Keniry, 3758 Butler St., by John Keniry, bartender, son of Michael, and fell on sidewalk receiving a skull fracture. John Keniry was arrested and held by Coroner's Jury Aug. 18, 1905. No bill by Grand Jury, September, 1905.
